Thanks a million Mike, I'm going to need all the help and good luck I can find!!
Anyway, just to give a short update for anyone who isn't friends with me on Facebook or doesn't know me or whatever,
I've bought a 7.5 ton Daf LF 2 car recovery truck. madness? yeah probably!!
I've alway's driven truck's ever since I left school at 18, I've never really driven anything as small as a 7.5 tonner, but it will be a nice change from the heavy haulage, crane operating and international haulage that I've been doing all along!
I will be operating nationally, although I will be based in the Dublin/Kildare area.
The bulk of my work will hopefully come from a few contract's which I'm hoping to attain in the coming week's, but I will be doing everything I can to make the business a success, so if anybody need's any vehicles moved then please either PM on here or you can call me direct on my mobile, I'll put the contact details at the bottom of this post.
The truck is a Daf LF 45 170hp, not really going to set the world on fire with its power but it's an ideal lorry for this type of work, it is fitted with a remote control Shanco 20ft tilt and slide body which can easily take any long wheel base van.
It is also equipped with a remote control winch for easy loading of non running cars or damaged vehicles.
There is also a spec lift on the lorry to carry 2 cars.
I understand the whole business of moving car's is about price at the end of the day, but I've been working with some people in the past who are in this profession and they are just doing it to make a living, they don't give a damn about your car or what way they load it or leave it, they won't care if their straps are rubbing against your alloy's, I'm obviously starting my own business to make a living aswell, but I'm an enthusiast, I wouldn't accept that type of attitude from anybody moving a car for me, so I will be extra careful when moving somebody else's pride and joy, whether it has just been show prepped or it has been pulled out of a ditch,
I will do my best to look after anyone on here who needs a car, van, jeep or any other vehicle moved, I don't intend on being a rip off merchant, my motto is to do the job the best I can and if I am competent, reliable and offer a good service at a good price then people will use you again, but the truck needs diesel and my kids need food, so it will not be a freebie either!!
If anybody has any questions or would like more information, please reply here or feel free to send me a PM
Alternatively, I can be contacted on O85 760 7000 or if you have any contact's who may be able to get me some work I'd appreciate if you could pass on the details.
Below is a few photo's of the lorry I have bought,
Thanks again for the well wishes Mike,
Best regards,
Mark
