Thanks to your help we are doing very well and are now heading towards 300 die hard German car enthusiasts on board. Well done to you all
As said, this progress is far beyond our expectations so early in the "Beta" release but nonetheless a good complaint to have. As a consequence we've had to adjust our plans on some of the background and foreground activities.
Among the foreground, we want to live by our promise and do things a little differently around here so here are our thoughts.
Our goal is to have the site run in as close to a self moderating fashion as possible. We believe that a little common sense and respect for other users and their views/opinions will go a long way. We really want your cooperation on this in a big way. However, there are practical reasons why we will need some extra pairs of hands and we may still want to create a traditional moderator team in due course. We do however plan on doing this in non traditional fashion.
Our plan is to ask you guys to have a think about could you do a moderator role. Have you got the interest, the objectivity, the time, the motivation, the attention to detail, the patience and most importantly a cool head to handle a variety of scenarios and situations at all hours of the day?
If you believe you have then we want you to briefly compose a PM and send it to us describing why you and what you believe you bring to the table. The Founders will then review all PMs objectively and put forward a list of people for you the users to place your vote against.
If you don't make the first cut, don't be put off. We've also decide that we are going to do something else that is different. We plan on rotating the Moderator team every 6 or 12 months so we keep it all fresh.
Lastly, a few more points on the role:
1) The moderator role is an important role but they will not be game keepers but rather people who are here to help and guide your user experience on the forum.
2) Yes, and inevitably, we all have bad days and personalities will clash so it will be up to the moderators (or the users) to highlight any issues to the Admin team where action may need to be taken.
3) Where action is concerned, it will be swift and without hesitation. Simple.
So have a think about the above and please do come back to us in the coming days.
