Time: Second Sunday of every month 11am-1pm.

Location: Briarhill Shopping Centre
Good Weather: Carpark Outside
Bad Weather: Underground Carpark

I've been going to these now for the past while. Basically people turn up in literally all types of cars from all era's.

The star of the show was the 161 Honda Civic Type R (310hp/400NM) and Honda's first Turbo Petrol car.

This thing is insane. It was driven by Dave Humphreys from Complete Car Car Reviews (completecar.ie). He gets to drive the cars for a week or so while putting together reviews on them and drove it down from Dublin. They have reviewed 1,000's of cars and I had a great chat with him about the hot hatches on the market. He did say that the Type R, even in R+ Mode, doesn't have as nice a chassis as the Renault Megene 265, which I though was interesting. He mentined the Civic is very thirsty! He also mentioned VW will be bringing the R400 Golf into Ireland (his own words) and that it will be expensive!

He is eagerly awaiting to review the Clubsport GTI too.

Excuse the Non-VAG pics below.

The other car that caught my attention was the 1994 Lancia Delta Integrale 2.0 Turbo 220bhp 4wd. This was in concours condition and is worth €35-40k.

A lad parked beside me in a Mk5 GTI with stage 1 remap. He's a member on here now too.

There were other nice machines too - Focs ST 2.5T 225bhp

S2000

and others like Mx5's, Subaru's, a Rolls Royce etc but I said I'd post the pics of the Lancia and the Civic as they were serious machines.

Sorry I missed this, would have liked a chat with that guy!

However... The civic is absolutely hideous imo. I'd expect it's an absolute hoot to drive and I note the Brembo brake setup etc, but look at it... A baseball cap and hoodie would be essential accessories.

Joe I have never spoke with person who has driven more cars! He spoke a lot about the Golf R/GTI too. They have reviewed so many cars, even up the Veyron! Next car for review is the M4 GTS.

There's a lot to take in on the Civic, I'll say that much. It's a screaming sports/track car no matter what humour you're in. It's like you can't escape that from the moment you buy it. Imagine you're after having a bad day in work and you're struggling with a hangover/headache and you just want to cruise home smoothly, comfortably and quietly and you walk up to this thing!!

That's when he mentioned the R!!!

Yeah I follow their FB page and they do write decent car reviews, unusual in the Irish motoring journalism - most Irish car reviews are more like press releases.

He's spoofing with regard to the R400 though. VW haven't confirmed they'll even make it and I'd wager VW Ireland have never heard of it.

He said he asked Vw about it when reviewing another car and they said the above. He also said he saw designs for it and that it's fairly extravagant. Hard enough to believe alright but time will tell!

Realistically, what sort of price would it be!?

That Civic has too much red for me liking and all lines are exaggerated. Just my humble opinion

The civic is a bit of an eyesore alright.

Here's the R400 pre production car for comparison.

Loving that Lancia in the pics.

These countrywide C&C events are a great opportunity to see all sorts.

Thanks for posting.

My Grandad was a car collector. He had restored cars from each decade from the 20's to the 80's. He actually had Lancia Delta (not an Integrale) too as his daily, along with a mk2 Escort, Moggy Minor, Austin 7, Morris 8 and a few more Fords like Zephyrs, Consuls etc so I'm liking the mix of cars at these and how open everyone is to appreciating other peoples' cars.

The Lancia was the nicest car there and looked fresh from the factory.

That Lancia is a cracker alright, I've seen it up close before, it's really mint. Timeless design. Can't imagine anyone will say that about the Civic in 30 years...

The R400 is no looker either mind you and it will be stupid money if they ever build it.

Nothing better than seeing all the different car groups together at one event!
There's far too much politics and hatred between the Vag & Japs ect haha..

There are some serious machines at this alright! I've never really been to Meets like this before where any type of car turns up. The lads seem to be genuine enthuasiasts too.

Dave Humphreys from CompleteCar.ie Car Reviews will be turning up at the next one in a German car so I'm looking forward to seeing what he brings with him.
