Having successfully run the East and West coast Detailing training days last month we have decided to run a Southern event on March 12th to respond to the requests we received from a number of people. Your hosts on this occasion will be D&D Detailing. We will be publishing finer details shortly but in the meantime we need to confirm 10 attendee names before we can lock and load the event. The on the day format will be similar to the previous two events but obviously we asked each of the providers to run it in their own style. In any case given the positive feedback there's I doubt it will be a good day out. |

Hello everyone, Darren here from D&D Detailing. We are delighted to be running this DIY Basics Of Detailing Class in conjunction with Autostadt especially after the success and great feedback from the East Coast and West Coast classes. For anyone who doesn't know us, we are Detailing company based in Cork City. We (Darren Mitchell and Darren Hickey) started the company 4 years ago solely as a service based company, but have since added a Detailing Supplies Shop to our business which has grown much more than we expected. We have seen the demand for quality car care services grow massively in the last number of years. More and more people are refusing to accept substandard services from main dealers (when purchasing a new car) and the 'bucket and sponge' car wash/valeters. The more knowledge we all have about proper car care the better. Anyway..that's enough of the introductions! Lets get down to the details Our Class will be held on Sunday 12th of March at 10am. Mike has kindly posted our address and a map of our location above. Anyone not used to the area or having trouble finding us don't hesitate to give us a call and we will give you directions. Sundays are very quiet around here so there should be plenty of parking in the industrial estate. It is €50 per person and can pay via paypal to: info@dnddetailing.ie I am sure most of you will have a good idea of what will be covered on the day and we wont be straying too far from the topics covered by the east and west coast classes. But just to give everyone who might not know an idea, here are some of the areas that will be covered on the day: *The basics Maintenance washing-How to wash your car properly and safely. Various different pre-wash options/products/tools/techniques. Shampoos, mitts, 2 bucket wash, drying and wheel cleaning *Paintwork prep and decontamination. De-tar-what type of products to use, Why not to use petrol ect. Fallout/Iron remover. Why these products are important, What actually happens when you use them on your wheels/paintwork. Clay-how to clay, why claying is important, risks ect *Polish/Wax/Glaze/Sealant/Coatings/Detailer sprays Differences between each of the above. How to and when to use each of the above. How to choose which one is for you. *Microfiber cloths/towels Differences/how to choose/maintenance ect *Introduction to machine polishing Differences between rotary and dual-action polishers Hand polishing vs. machine polishing Paint level reading Choosing the right machine polisher/backing plates/pads/products Evaluating and removing paint damage and defects This is just a brief overview of what will be covered. We will answer any questions you have along the way. This class will be as hands on as possible. We believe it is the best way to learn. We want everyone to be involved, using chemicals, mitting, claying ect. We also have a large and quite diverse amount of machine polishers so we would like to give everyone who might be unsure/nervous of machine polishing to try out a couple of machines. Please be aware that this is not a class on paint correction. The main focus is PREVENTING damage being caused to your pride and joy. We do hope to run classes in the future solely focused on paint correction. We will also be offering a discount on products from our shop to anybody attending. If anybody has any questions or would like any other topic covered post away and I will be happy to answer. |
