The Mk2 is a special car , the current owner (one of my best mates) , remembers going in to Frank Hogan's as a schoolboy with his mam to collect it , brand new , she always liked hot hatches . He learnt to drive in it , and to love it... she traded it for a mk3 GTI then , which they just never got to like . He tracked it down years later , bought it back , and over the last few years has been turning it into the mk2 he always dreamt about . I built a hopped up engine for it , he already had pretty good suspension it it which I managed to get working , and fitted proper brakes (VR6 spec) . A lick of paint , some uber tasty wheels , and that interior... and he has his interpretation of a dream MK2 . Nice to have that history behind it...
Derek's mk1 , is a car I really like , it's just a sweet , complete car , and of course , you couldn't meet a sounder my friend.
The mk3 on "rally raid" suspension , beside the mk2 sitting on the floor was gas...
Now thats a great story!! Credit to him...! Whats under the bonnet... I was dying to have a peep.. Itd be like something that would have a 16v/ G60 or VR lump!
Yeah Dereks one is just right... Its one Id like to have in the shed & take it on an early morning spirited drive!
As for the Mk3.... Its a Van!!!
It was only when I had a good look at it I spotted there was no seats in the back!
